After spending a few hours rebuilding my mach_kernel from the xnu package, I've found that it's a bit more involved than they lead on. Also, it 's really unnecessary (though it's something every Unix geek must do at least once).

Xen

In related news, the Xen project is coming along well. The is talk on the list of UBD devices in the near future (currently in testing), and a new suite of Python management tools in the 1.2 tree (no more Java command line bulk). Still no news from Microsoft on distributing the modified binaries for WindowsXP to run under the hypervisor, however.

A Xen FAQ has been started to answer some of the basic questions on the mailing list.

There is a new NetBSD port to Xen as well (check the README for more info).

If you're a windows user with a Linux bent, check out coLinux. Virtual Linux servers running in parallel with Windows at ring-0. No need to repartition or reboot. Run Linux images on your Windows box without porting to cygwin or incurring that cygwin overhead.

There are currently attempts at gettting OpenMosix/OpenSSI based distributions running under coLinux. These include CHAOS and ClusterKnoppix.
