Scribus seems to be a desktop publishing system with a bit of maturity and a community.
Passepartout is an X11 based Desktop Publishing application. Simple, and effective.
There are three system busses in a Prius:
Only the Gateway ECU exists on all 3 system busses.
From a user perspective, your best bet is the CAN bus via the DLC3 port. DLC3 - Data Link Connector 3 sits over by your right knee and allows connection with the CAN and allows for obtaining Diagnostic Trouble Codes from any of the components of the system and allows for reprogramming of ECUs
There are a couple of interesting Prius diagnostic screens accessible via the touch screen.
To get to either, hit the "Display" button to bring up the display settings.
Inside the visible area within the Display frame, press the upper left corner followed by the lower left corner, 3 times. Imagine there are invisible buttons there. This will bring up a screen that can be escaped out of without rebooting your vehicle.
Inside the visible area within the Display frame, press the upper left corner followed by the lower right corner, 3 times. This will bring up the manufacturer's diagnostics screen. After the tests are complete, you can look at any error messages or return to the main menu. At the main menu, there is yet another hidden extended diagnostics menu accessible by alternatively pressing the upper left and lower right corners of the screen yet again. The only way out of these menus is to reboot your vehicle.
This really needs a bit more menu navigation information, and some screen snapshots.
Microsoft has added a serial number checker to Windows Update for XP boxen.
Unfortunately, the serial checker is easily foiled with Javascript:
Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')
It turns off the trigger for the key check.
Alternatively, you can disable the Genuine Advantage Check with GenuineCheck.exe.
Amusing.
FiST - Stackable File System Language and Templates.
A Solaris, FreeBSD, and Linux filesystem development platform.
Linux-vserver started
here, and has become a great security-context based hosting environment.
Very similar to BSD Jails, Linux-vserver runs everything natively using security contexts to constrain the userspace process resources.
FUSD a Linux Framework for User-Space Devices.
MapFS is a agent based cluster filesytem used by the likes of
Levanta to provide a distributed filesystem to a Xen based appliance.
Some whitepapers here, also
here and
Levanta is a "Linux application server" appliance that uses MapFS (a distributed cluster filesystem with a revisionist history) to perform transactional systems administration.
While GMx Solutions' CM_SAFE does this at an application level with userspace tools, Levantra is doing this at a system level by using Xen and MapFS.
I think Levanta has some great ideas here, but they're following an applicance model.. this isn't what enterprise infrastructures are begging for.
Chandler is Mitchell Kapor's Open Source Application Foundation effort. Like a super-PIM, with "Agenda's soul," interfacing or replacing current interfaces for email, contacts, calendar, web docs, IM, blogs and more on the client side. "Intelligent agent" capabilities and synchronized content servers as well.
Based on Python WxWindows. Ick.
Bynari was the buzz a while back as "the Exchange killer". Underneath, the real magic was the Insight Connector to Outlook. There are a number of OpenSource equivalents now.
PHPProjekt is yet another PHP based groupware server.
Lucane Groupware is a Java based groupware platform.
There is a good article on Lucane in this SourceForge article.
eGroupWare is a CMS, CRM, and group calendaring groupware system.
Covide is a commercial groupware system.
OpenGroupware.org is the OpenSourced version of
SKYRIX. One of the first, there are many alternatives now.
phpGroupWare is, as it's name suggests, a PHP based groupware platform including 50 web-based applications.
